Most Practical Upgrade - Smart Shades

Upgrades to your home should enhance your living experience in some way. The great thing about upgrades is they can be tailored to your life-style, to help your home function in a way that supports your needs. What an idea! Your home serving you!
But of course, our homes do serve our needs in hundreds of ways- protecting us from weather, storing our food and giving us security. And new “smart” technologies are opening up a new world of possibility and convenience.
One of my favourite upgrades is the installation of smart control systems for motorized blinds and shades. These systems can be programmed to open and close blinds and shades at different times of day, and let you operate them from your phone.
Imagine the feeling of having your shades rise automatically each morning, letting in the sunlight and welcoming you to the day? Ahhh!
Or being able to instruct your blinds to lower from your office, when the cloudy morning turns into a sunny afternoon, so your air conditioning isn’t working overtime?
Automating your blinds adds comfort and convenience to your life. And its practical too. Sunlight, much as we love it, is notorious for the costly damage it can cause by fading upholstery, rugs, flooring and artwork. Why risk that?
The good news is, it is very easy and cost-effective to add a wireless control system if you already have motorized blinds and shades. The wireless system takes the place of the remote controls supplied with motorized blinds (no more searching for the remotes!).
And if your blinds are manual, we have sourced simple-to-install battery operated motors which, while not inexpensive on their own, do enable you to enjoy the benefits of automation, while avoiding the additional cost of wiring in an outlet for each motor for each blind.
If you need more incentives, consider that many automation systems for blinds and shades integrate with smart-home hubs such as Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri, which can help you control smart devices using your voice. (In fact, Smart home devices is such a fascinating area, I intend to devote a couple of future blogs to the subject soon!)
Meanwhile, would the experience, the comfort, the savings, the protection and the convenience of automated blinds and shades help your home serve your needs better?
