Most Delightful Upgrade: Light My Closet

Are you delighted by opening your closet door? Who am I kidding?

Perhaps you’re thinking “Maybe, if I had a movie-star, room-sized closet complete with a sofa and champagne… and a to-die-for wardrobe …”

I assure you, I am not putting you on here. This simple upgrade can help your closet transform your life. What would that be, you ask? A month of professional decluttering and organizing?

Easier - and faster - than that!

Lighting your closet is a transformation you will LOVE every single day.

Think about it: your closets are some of the most jam-packed, hard-working square footage of your home. They store clothing, shoes, sports equipment, cleaning products, seasonal toys and decoration, and boxes and boxes of life’s “stuff”. But if you can’t easily see what you’ve got, closets become a challenge.

And yet, many closets have no lighting or just a single overhead light. Which means very little light gets shone upon much of what is in there when you open the door.

So while enhanced room lighting is our #1 most requested upgrade, I can’t help thinking that is only because people haven’t seen the HUGE difference strip LED lighting can make in their closets.

In case you didn’t notice yet, I am completely enamoured of the difference LED strip lighting can make in the functionality of your closest. Layered on the inside top of a door frame in an older home, or under the front edge of shelves in a contemporary walk-in closet, these rows of tiny lights can make finding what you need in the closet so much more comfortable and efficient. Just look at how well-lit those shoes are in the bottom layer of this closet! And the hanging trousers! In the early morning scramble, choosing what to wear just got a lot easier.

Icing on the cake? In this closet, as a surprise for our client, we installed a motion sensor switch. She was absolutely delighted to discover that the lights come on when she opens the door. And so is her husband.

And the cherry on top - in case you didn’t notice - how about those valet hooks mounted in the front surface of the shelf? I was so excited when I found these. They slide out so you can easily see all the components of your outfit together, mix and match things, and then they slide back out of the way when you’re done. How great is that?

Ah! Delight is in the details!
